Jon Roethling calls himself a “plant geek.” Me? I’m nowhere close. As we walk underneath the curved glass of the Brown Family Conservatory at Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem, Jon rattles off names of plants I’ve never even heard of before — let alone know how to spell. He explains. He even gives me the Latin names. I’m just wide-eyed and clueless. Then, I spot a bunch of begonias.
